Riverside Poly Athletics Winter Recap

The Boys Basketball Team delivered an outstanding season marked by consistency, determination, and high-level play on both ends of the court. Competing with intensity throughout league action, the team battled its way to a strong finish, earning a tie for third place against tough competition. Their success was fueled by balanced scoring, disciplined defense, and a commitment to teamwork that showed in every game. Highlighting the season’s achievements, the team also advanced to the Kiwanis Finals for the ninth consecutive year, continuing a remarkable tradition of excellence and proving once again that they are a program built on resilience, pride, and sustained success.
The Bears Girls Basketball team put together a dominant and memorable season, capturing the league championship with consistent, high-level play and strong leadership on both ends of the floor. Carrying that momentum into the postseason, they advanced to the second round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs, where they battled fiercely against a talented St. Margaret’s Episcopal School girls basketball squad. Despite a hard-fought effort, their playoff run came to an end against a St. Margaret’s team that went on to win the Southern Section title and earn a berth in the state tournament. The season stands as a testament to the team’s resilience, skill, and championship mentality, capping off a year of excellence and pride.
The Girls Water Polo Aqua Bears turned in an impressive and determined season, highlighted by capturing the league championship and showcasing their growth and resilience along the way. After suffering an early league loss to the Valley View Eagles, the team responded with focus and intensity, avenging that defeat later in the season to secure the title. Building on that momentum, they advanced to the CIF Southern Section playoffs, where they competed against some of the top programs in the region. Their playoff run came to an end against Santa Barbara High School girls water polo, a powerhouse squad that went on to finish as the Division 2 runner-up. The season reflected the team’s perseverance, competitive spirit, and ability to rise to the challenge against elite competition.
The Bears Wrestling Team capped off an impressive showing at the league finals, demonstrating depth, toughness, and high-level skill across multiple weight classes. Leading the way, the program crowned four individual league champions, each battling through a competitive bracket to claim the top spot on the podium. In addition to those standout performances, four more wrestlers delivered strong finishes to qualify for the CIF Southern Section playoffs, giving the team a total of eight athletes advancing to the next stage. The results reflect the team’s hard work throughout the season and position them well to compete against the top wrestlers in the section.
The Boys Soccer Team wrapped up a season defined by hard work, growth, and unwavering pride in representing their program. From the opening match to the final whistle, the team competed with determination and resilience, consistently challenging themselves against tough opponents. Along the way, they showed noticeable improvement in skill, teamwork, and game awareness, turning each match into an opportunity to learn and develop. Building on that momentum, the team earned the No. 3 seed in the CIF Southern Section playoffs, a testament to their consistency and strong performances throughout the year. Their playoff run came to a close in a hard-fought match against Tahquitz High School girls soccer, but the team’s effort and determination were evident until the final whistle. Adding to the season’s success, the squad featured one of the leading goal scorers in the state, showcasing their offensive firepower and ability to compete at a high level. Overall, it was a season filled with memorable moments, growth, and pride.
