Varsity Football Improves to 2-1 with Gritty 20-14 Win Over Wildcats

The Varsity football team held strong under the Saturday night lights, securing a hard-fought 20-14 home victory over the visiting the Redlands East Valley Wildcats to improve their season record to 2-1.

The defense stepped up to hold the Wildcats in check to secure the win. Offensively, the team capitalized on key opportunities, with the run game providing steady momentum throughout the night. It was a complete team effort.

This win builds critical momentum heading into rivalry week, where the team will face off against their crosstown rivals King High School in one of the most anticipated matchups of the season.

Earlier in the week, the JV team came up short in a physical contest, falling 16-7 despite a strong showing on defense. The offense struggled to find rhythm in key moments, but the team showed flashes of potential to build on going forward.

Meanwhile, the freshman squad started strong but couldn’t maintain momentum in the second half, ultimately falling as their early lead slipped away. Turnovers and missed tackles proved costly, but the game offered valuable experience for the young team.

With the varsity squad gaining confidence and rivalry week on the horizon, the program is looking to keep its edge and bring the energy into what promises to be a high-stakes showdown.

Our next contest will be next Saturday at Martin Luther King High School, 7 pm. Come out and support your Bears!
